Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a crime prevention programme designed to encourage the community to cooperate with the local Gardai in reducing opportunities for crime.



The Bailis Downs Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was formally established in February 2017 with the support of Residents and the Community Garda.

FREE to Join its aims are to ensure that residents look out for each other and that we can all be alerted to any urgent situations.



How it Works


  • Report any suspicious activity immediately to the Garda and obtain a reference number to be able to follow it up later.

  • Report this to our Neighbourhood Watch via Mobile call / Text 086 896 1958


  • If appropriate the Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator can send a Text Alert to all members and to coordinators in neighbouring Johnstown Estates.

When there is :

  • an immediate threat or risk.

  • request for information.

  • significant announcement affecting Residents.

  • Annual System check.
